Well, it is that time again. We are headed back up to the High Uintas. We will be taking a metal detector and pan's for panning. We will be scouting out a new area that hasn't had much Internet discussion. Maybe it is prime because of no one talking about it. From aerial views it looks good for geo formations. We'll be starting out a little bit earlier in the evening to hit our camp site before dusk. However, I did enjoy the night hike last year.

Stand tuned for the next post. Hoping to hit the "mother lode."

More Clues found

We're back and had a great time. We started our hike into the High Uintas at 9:15 Wednesday night and arrived at our campsite at 1:00 AM in the morning. It was the first time we have hiked in at night, and I have to say I much preferred it over hiking in during the heat of day. It was cool, and the hike went fast, without take too many stops.

We spent 3 days there. All I can say is that we found a lot more clues on this trip than all the trips combined. Those clues will keep us going back for more.

So, until next year...

Our trip is coming up

We are planning our 5th annual backpacking trip into the Unitas, and of course, our search for the Rhoads Lost Gold Mine. Last year's trip we discovered, what we feel were some shafts used for ventilation for the mine, as well as some clues indicating that the mine was in the area of our exploration.

In year's past we have discovered interesting clues, and at times, felt we were being watched or followed.

This year we will be exploring some new areas that we have not searched before, and are hoping for some new discoveries.
